Persons and Family Relations Law 2019 Edition [Clothbound]

New product

Since the release of the sixth edition in 2015, the Supreme Court issued a number of jurisprudence that changed or significantly improved the landscape of family law. One of them is the en banc decision in Republic vs. Manalo, G.R. No. 221029, April 24, 2018, allowing the recognition of an absolute divorce initiated by Philippine citizens abroad in cases of marriages between Filipinos and foreigners. Another one is Masbate vs. Masbate, G.R. No. 235498, July 30, 2018, clarifying the concept of substitute parental authority over illegitimate children. And there were reaffirmations of old jurisprudence in present cases, such as the non-need of a judicial declaration of presumptive in the 1948 In re: Szatraw case in Tadeo Matias vs. Republic, G.R. No. 230751, April 25, 2018.
Another important development is Republic Act Number 11222 known as the ‘‘Simulated Birth Rectification Act’’ which allows administrative adoption in cases of children with simulated birth certificates.
