The Latest and Most Comprehensive Bar Reviewer in Labor Law

New product

Taking the Bar Examinations is perhaps the greatest challenge that any future lawyer can face. After four years of Pre-Law in college, and four years in Law School, preparing for the Bar could be a big, big task to surmount, especially to working students and those from the province. A working student from the province who did not have enough resources to venture into such a challenging task, that was me. I was a Court Interpreter in the Cebu City Court, working from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day. I had to walk everyday from the Cebu City Hall to my classes at the University of Visayas, Gullas Law School for four years.

From 5:20 pm to 9:20 pm every night, I had to learn all my law subjects under our Law Professors, who were also too busy with the law practice being public offi cials, as judges, politicians or businessmen. The quality of the learning environment left much to be desired, but the school administration and the faculty were so good to us, that we survived and excelled in both academics and the extracurricular activities.

Despite all the odds, I graduated as the Class Valedictorian and with MAGNA CUM LAUDE honors, while doing my extracurricular activities as President of the Supreme Student Council, and as an Associate Editor of the Campus organ.

I lived in a depressed area, where I built my own shanty, cooked my own food, washed my clothes, fetched water from a public artesian well, and studied until past midnight under a kerosene lamp. I had no running water, nor electricity. It was a very hard life.

I was so short of funds that I could not afford a Bar Review. I had to stay in the province where I read my books at the seaside, alone and unaided. One month before the Bar, I came to Manila for the fi rst time. I was in culture shock, and was often lost fi nding my way to the Supreme Court.

I had a Pre-week Review at San Beda where I had to copy everything that the Bar Reviewer said. I took the Bar Examinations and answered all the questions based on our Constitution, the Labor Code, thousands of Presidential Decrees under the Martial Law regime. The fi eld was not of the same level. The Bar candidates from Metro Manila had more advantage than us. We, from the province, were groping in the dark.

I could not believe when I got an average of 84.93%, God is good, and I felt so happy that indeed all my sacrifi ces bore fruits.

This work is dedicated to those who struggle hard with not enough time, not enough money and not enough support from others. I call upon all of you, who are similarly situated. Just believe that nothing is impossible when you collaborate with God in pursuing your dream.
