  • “It has adopted some of the new rules of evidence now in use in common law countries, notably the United States. It has drawn on the wisdom of the most learned Commentators on the law on evidence like McCormick, Mueller, Kirkpatrick, Lempert, Saltzburg, and others. This treatise will have a long shelf life and it is best to keep it at arm’s length.” – Ret. Chief Justice Reynato Puno

“The publication of this treatise, entitled Insights on Evidence, discussing the granulars of the 2019 Supreme Court amendments in our rules on evidence written by no less than Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta and Court of Appeals Associate Justice Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr. is glad tidings for the Bench and the Bar. The publication of this treatise, entitled Insights on Evidence, discussing the granulars of the 2019 Supreme Court amendments in our rules on evidence written by no less than Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta and Court of Appeals Associate Justice Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr. is glad tidings for the Bench and the Bar. Chief Justice Peralta commands at his fingertips the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of our rules on evidence, and has applied them in thousands of real cases as trial judge, as associate justice in the Sandiganbayan and as magistrate in the Highest Court of the Land. An original member of the 2008 SC Sub-Committee and as its Vice Chairman in 2019, Chief Justice Peralta can be called as one of its midwives, hence, he knows all the labyrinths of its metamorphosis. On the other hand, Associate Justice Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr. of the Court of Appeals has repeatedly demonstrated the length of his intellectual bandwidth with his comprehensive commentaries on various subjects of Philippine law.
