It has been said, today’s lesson is tomorrow’s book. As such, in response to the emotions, sentiments and numerous and uncommon reactions of the learners in taxation law, it’s no surprise that writing, like life has to be organized. Learn by example, learn by illustration. And to teach the law, is to simplify it.

While this humble piece is not an attempt to substitute good and rigorous study of the Codal provisions of the NIRC, the point is modest and unpretentious. Prepare the bar candidate in his hurdle against the dreaded but overly coveted bar examinations. To build a landscape, spectacle and a standpoint that in one glimpse, it is as if, the worldview is complete if not concluded.

The author intends to take the learner from beginning to end of Income Taxation Law. Again, consistent with the previous publications, the codal provisions are rearranged to be more responsive, continuous, chronological and linked to one another. More examples, more illustrations, more simplifications are the highlights of this 2019 Edition.

With the advent of RA 10963, otherwise known as the “Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN),” substantial changes were made with a total of eighty (80) provisions consisting of sixty-nine (69) amendments, eight (8) new sections and three (3) repealed sections of the Old Tax Code (RA 8424). Likewise, updated Supreme Court decisions are presented to further emphasize a doctrine or principles that would warrant a concrete elucidation and enlightenment, justification and rationalization, or simply put, the reason for the law. Armed with BIR Issuances, Regulations, Orders and Circulars, and the Author’s stance, may this be indeed, A Guide to Passing the Bar.
